Welcoming Winter

We might not be able to stop winter from coming, but we can choose how we interact with ourselves and the outside world during its arrival.
The gift of winter is to slow down, to go within, and to reflect on the way we are living.
We are forced to look at ourselves and choose whether or not we want to continue or make changes to our current situations. We get to plot the seeds of change and inspiration that will come to fruition in the spring time when we are feeling refreshed, renewed, and ready to transform our ideas into reality. Winter can be a very helpful planning phase if we use it correctly.
The dark is much more prevalent in the external world during the winter. The same could be said for our inner world, too. It is important to be extra kind to ourselves and others as we navigate the season changes the best we can.
Some of my favorite winter activities include: getting cozy on the couch with a blanket, making a hot cup of tea / coffee / hot chocolate, reading a new book, watching a favorite movie, trying a new baking recipe, playing music while cleaning the house, and writing.
Find something that brings you joy and spend your free time doing that. See how different it makes you feel instead of engaging in unhelpful habits like mindlessly scrolling on social media or reinforcing negative feedback loops in your self-talk.
