Happy Winter Solstice!

Today marks the longest night of the year and welcomes in the Winter season.

During this transition, I invite you to take time to go within and reflect on what is working and what is not. What is your daily schedule consisting of? Are you setting yourself up to accomplish the goals you have? Does your typical routine assist the person you genuinely want to be? Or do you find inner conflict with the way your life is going and the life you want to experience?

This is such a great time to pick something you want to do more of or less of. Start small and simple. Maybe you want to complain less. Maybe you want to become more positive. Maybe you want to learn a new skill. Sit with yourself and determine why that is important to you and what that change would do for your life. Then, give yourself a plan on how to implement that change.

This transition can be super fun for those of us who have friends and family to spend the holidays with, but it can also be a tough time for those experiencing situations such as grief, heartbreak, and loneliness.

During this season, I encourage you to let the people in your life know they matter to you. Check in with a simple “How are you? I’ve been thinking of you. I hope you are doing well”. This could mean so much more to someone than you know. In this cold and dark time, we can help spread light and warmth to others with our words and actions. Let the people that matter to you know they matter to you.

For those of us who are looking for ideas on how to bring more “light” into our lives during this winter season, here are a few of my favorites:

Journaling

Making gratitude lists

Following a structured routine

Creating (art, content, writing, crafting, etc)

Taking a hot bath or shower

Meditating

Making warm drinks such as tea, hot chocolate, or apple cider

Writing down affirmations and placing them where I can see them often

Dancing and singing to my favorite music

Getting together with friends/family to share a meal

Reading a new book

Remember, today marks the longest night of the year—the darkest night. Each day following will bring more light until we reach the Spring Equinox in March. Be kind and gentle with yourself during this season of “hibernation” and focus on planting the seeds that you want to blossom in the spring. 💖❄️🌨️☃️
